Carlisle walked into his home silently, to be frank he was tired. putting up with some patients in his hospital could even ruffle his feathers. But he never did show that tension and when he got home it seemed to melt away when he saw the woman he saved and was happy he did. the blonde mess of hair fell across his face making him look like he had just come from hell and back. Carlisle chuckled at the ironic thought, it really was ironic seeing as his son Edward, always thought that his kind were d**ned to that place. Golden eyes flitted around the room and he began to walk silently into the spacious expanse of the Cullen home. It seemed like his "children" were all out doing something or out "backpacking" so it would be quiet for a few days. The sun was setting and the smallest vermilion hues made their way through the jade shield that was the forest of La Push and filtered through their window.
Walking through a hall he looked about for Esme, "Maybe she went with them to make sure they didnt get into too much trouble" he mused. It was likely so he began his ascent to his office where he usually hid away. The silence of his home was welcomed yet somehow oddly uncomfortable, being that he was used to Alice's Chirping voice greeting him or Emmett's bellows of laughter at something. Edward playing the piano, or Rosalie muttering something about someone. The silence was foreign in some ways but it did give him a chance to catch up on work that he couldn't do when his family was always chattering with him. But he never minded the noise cause it made him feel at home.
He suddenly thought he heard a noise, he walked out of his office and down the stairs..
Who or What could that be?

Esme sat, her legs tucked securely under her, on the grass behind the Cullens' home, the huge mansion looming behind her. She had been working on some of her art and a bit of antique furniture for most of the day, and decided it was about time for a rest. Of course, to her and the other Cullen's, a rest did not ever mean sleep, but rather just relaxing. And her desire for a rest was not at all to say that she didn't enjoy her hobby. It was a hobby, after all. She had just needed a change for a while.
She was watching the sun go down and allowing her thoughts to wander, mostly to her family and especially letting them rest on her significant other and love, Carlisle. He should be home soon, unless he decided to stay longer at the hospital, which wasn't uncommon for him. He just couldn't get enough of saving and helping others. The thought produced a smile of admiration on her lips, and it was then that she heard the vehicle. She guessed it was still a ways up the drive, so she stayed where she was and waited for him patiently.
A few minutes later, when she knew he was already in the house and probably looking for her, she rose from her place as dusk was settling upon them, and waltzed inside, heading for the stairs. He hardly ever lingered on the ground floor. As she reached the bottom of the stairs, he appeared there, probably having heard the door behind her. A smile lit her face, giving her even more of an ethereal glow, and she reached out to greet him, wrapping her arms around him in an embrace as she brushed her lips across his.
"Hello love. How was your day?" She whispered as she leaned her head back slightly to gaze into those warm, golden eyes.

Carlisle's muscular form watched as he walked to the foot of the stairs, His thoughts has wandered to Esme, his wife and his other half. He remembered the day he had saved her, that day was probably one of the happiest yet also saddest. His golden eyes flickered outside a window, still he hadn't spotted anyone.. Esme's scent was fresh in the house so she should be around there somewhere. Eyes of liquid gold looked back to the top of the stairwell seeing as he might as well go back to his office when he heard something. Out of his peripheral vision he saw the back door shut and Esme was through. His gentle smile soon graced his features as he came to greet her.
He felt her arms wrap around him and her lips brush his in just the slightest. Esme Cullen was the love of his life and the only one he would ever love. Not even in life before becoming a vampire, had he ever met someone that touched his heart.. his very soul like she did. His thoughts often wandered to her and his family, Edward had Bella, and the irony of their relationship was, that he and Esme were almost the same in a way. Carlisle met her as a vampire, but all he wanted to do was protect her, and so he did, by saving her and bringing her into his world. For that moment he seemed lost in thought happy that she was with him for a while.
"Hello love. How was your day?"
Her sweet voice broke through his thoughts and he smiled, "Hello, Esme" His smile was sweet and content as he wrapped his arms around her and chuckled "A few difficult patients that wouldn't co-operate with anyone, but other than that it was the same as usual" He pulled her closer into his embrace, How was your day today dear?" His voice was like silk, words flowing from his mouth easily and gracefully. Outside a few hues of vermilion were still visible within the trees shield, "You were outside, would you like to go back out?" again his tone was soft and sweet.
