Bella gratefully laced her fingers with Edward's, drawing comfort from his stoic strength. She found for a moment that she couldn't quite look away. Her eyes sought his, and for a moment she wished he could read her thoughts, if only to hear her think "I love you".
Bella's attention snapped back to the moment at hand. The vampire at the door was unknown. "What's your name?" said Bella, her golden eyes unusually cold. If this vampire was threatening Carlisle or her family, she would have hell to pay.
OOC: Should we have someone NPC Carlisle?

[OoC: Sure, if you'd like, Bella. I wouldn't mind, although, I'm not well at rolpelaying with Carlisle. I'd suggest someone else.]
Alice stepped aside, and gestered her hand inward, allowing Carole through the double doors.
"Carlisle isn't here at the moment. I believe he's at work..." Alice's eyes scanned over Carole again before she turned away and lead her inside of the home. "He works at a hospital, you know. Most vampires wouldn't be able to stand that strong of a scent..." She pointed out, obviously talking about the scent of blood. Alice was right, of course. Not many vampires could handle the scent of blood in such a place for long. They would most likely go mad, unless they've had years and years of experience - as Carlisle had.
Her feet pushed forward, leading the stranger to the living room, which hadn't been used recently, discluding the grand piano in the corner of the room; Edward had been brushing up on his melodies before entering the foyer.
"Would you mind explaining what your business is with Carlisle? A message can be delivered." Alice said briskly, awaiting a response.

Jasper kept an eye on the stranger as Alice led her into the living room, if any outburst occurs, he would be there to calm it down quickly. But of course, he wanted to keep that as a last resort, for hopefully that it would not be necessary. Silently, Jasper continued to watch from afar once again, definitely on guard. Though subconsciously his ability began to work its way into the atmosphere, very little each time.

Being led into the living room by Alice, Carole stood there politely waiting for them to offer her a seat. "My name is Carole and this involves a personal manner. It has to do with something that happened to me and my family a century ago. Do any one of you know anything about it?" She looked around at all of the faces that were studying her. She did her best to seem as non threatening and nonchalant and polite as possible. As far as she knew, these weren't the people that she was after and she didn't want the risk of being outnumbered; she just wanted a few answers and she would leave.
"So, tell me about Carlisle."

"What about Carlisle do you want to know?" Jasper finally spoke to Carole as he continued to watch, he sensed the difference in the stranger's emotions. That strong rage seemed to be slowly being contained, as if she was keeping herself in check. If anything, that might be a good sign for the rest of the Cullens. Had this stranger come in for a fight...they would most definitely be outnumbered. 'She's calming down on her own...' he thought as he glanced at Edward for a mere second before back at Carole.

Alice looked at Jasper and stepped forward.
"Carlisle is our...father, in a way. He hasn't changed any of us to vampires, only Edward." She gestured toward Edward. "The only reason Carlisle had changed Edward was because of his lonliness...and Edward would have died if he hadn't. Influenza hadn't a cure at the time. I don't believe he has changed anyone else...It's very hard to watch, you know."
Alice knew that it was a good thing to mention that first, just to see if there would be any type of violent reaction from the stranger.
She sat down on one of the unused pieces of furniture, leaving space for someone else to sit beside her.
"He's a very kind man. He took me, Edward, Jasper, Rosealie, Emmett, Esme, and now Bella into his home; with open arms." She looked to her family for more support on the matter. "He now works at a hospital, to use his knowledge in curing and saving the life of others..."

Edward gripped his wife's hand tightly, and he nodded a silent agreement. As Jasper was sensing, Carole was calming. However, it was more out of fear than anything else--she could see she was outnumbered, so she was just going to ask a few questions. Alice answered them a bit too eagerly though. Somehow it seemed obvious that she knew already--though perhaps it was simply because he knew that she knew that he thought thus.
((x.x That post stinks worse than a pig farm on a summer day.))

"Thanks for all of the information. I'll keep this all in mind." She thought about what they said about Carlisle only changing humans into vampires if it was truly what they needed or wanted. It made no sense as to who would have done what they did to her. The only way to find out would be to talk to Carlisle on his own time. Maybe Carlisle wasn't the right person and the male vamp in the alley who Carole interrogated was only pointing her in the direction of someone who knew the answer and wasn't thinking clearly when he said that Carlisle and the Cullens were the ones that killed them.
She didn't sense any sort of danger coming from either of them, so she decided to be social and get a better feel of what they were like, "So where are all of you from?"

"From?" Jasper asked politely, he posed a light pondering expression at this question before simply answering the best way they could, "Our home is here. As to our origins, we each are different on that accord." He glanced at everyone for a few seconds before staring back at Carole.

Bella nodded slowly, squeezing her husband's hand tightly. "I'm from Phoenix, originally," she said, knowing from Edward's manner that Carole must have been relatively harmless, "But my life changed when I came to Forks." she said, blushing slightly. She had meant it to come out less cheesy than that.
Bella could feel the atmosphere around her changing, and she relaxed as the familiar tug of Jasper's power grasped at her emotions.
(OOC: No it didn't, Edward. XD)

"I'm originally from near Boston. " She said looking at them all. "I've traveled around to just about everywhere that you could possibly think of though.... Searching." She looked to the floor and then looked up. "I guess you're wondering why I'm here."

Edward smiled his patented half smile at Bella's words. Just because they were so cheesy that the average quesadilla would be put to shame didn't mean they didn't fall like glimmering notes upon his inclined ear.
When Carole spoke again, it was with surprising calm. She seemed to have completely lost all suspicion so quickly it was startling. A small glint of humor flickered in the granite vampire's face as she continued to say that they'd wonder why she was here. He barely managed to keep from retorting with a "No we aren't wondering--we already know" because that wouldn't turn out well for anyone.

Alice looked at Edward, sighing slightly.
"You see..." Alice began, fidgeting with her fingers slightly. "Some vampires have special abilities...Most of this family inherited some type of ability. For example, I can see short distances into the future, Edward can read thoughts, and Jasper can get people to see things his way, most of the time."
Alice glanced at Bella.
"Bella may also have a special talent. We're not sure yet, since nothing has been tried out as of right now. I'm sure, once she finds out what it is, it'll be useful to her, and us." She waited for one of her family members to explain further, feeling as if she had put out the necessary information. Alice closed her eyes and leaned back, not worrying too much about the conversation anymore.
[OoC: Bella, I'm not sure if your character has any special abilities as a vampire, so, I just said that...xD]

"To put it simple, a sixth sense," Jasper added a bit, "So, we do already know why you are here, yet we have not attempted to question you about this due to the fact that it is not our business to inquire about." He sighed gently, his expression then smoothed out into a more lighter one, "I originated from Texas. Though we already know much about you through our abilities, I am sure we all do not mind offering our attention if you would like to tell us anything."
